Dance Moves

Here are a couple of videos I took before Christmas at the Meeting Mrs. Claus event at the library here in West Columbia. As you can see Campbell had a great time! This child was totally in her element.

Busy Bees

The good news is that the Childers household is all healthy again and we couldn't be more thrilled. It sure was a long week running back and forth to the pediatrician trying to get Miss Campbell back to her normal happy self.

Campbell is back to normal and I swear she is getting smarter by the day. We have been having so much fun with her lately and I feel like she is such a little lady. The things she says honestly surprises us and her sentences are getting longer and longer. She has gotten into a phase now where she wants Mommy to do everything for her. Austin gives her a bath every night that he is not traveling and her response for the last week regarding her bath has been "No Daddy, I want Mommy to do it." I know it's just a phase and it will pass quickly.

I also told Austin I wanted to start asking her daily what her favorite thing is about that particular day. When I questioned her tonight her answer was simply God, what an answer, true and perfect answer. I also asked her how did she get to be so smart and her response was I read. I'm sure that is part of the reason she is so smart, ha ha. Every night we say our prayers with Campbell  before we put her to bed and I guess I need to change up the beginning of our prayer because she knows my line. I said "Dear God, thank you for" and she promptly responded with "our many blessings." Whenever we pray for individuals she likes to make sure she prays for not only Gigi numerous times but now she throws in that she wants to pray for Donna.

I was also looking back and realized I have not really done a Campbell update since her half birthday. So at 21 1/2 months it seemed time for an update.

I am guessing you are around 26 to 27 pounds and about 33 inches tall.

You are wearing 18-24 months clothes, size 5 shoe, and size 4 diapers.

At last count you had 14 teeth.

Your language skills are still stellar. We were talking about Ho Ho earlier today and Campbell told me that she went to the mall to see Ho Ho with Mommy and Gigi. I asked her if she sat on his lap and what she asked him for, her response was presents.

You are a Mommy's girl but I know your first love is Gigi.

You know that saying please and thank you get you everywhere with Mommy and usually Daddy.

You love to tease your Daddy and tell him "I teasing". You love to make people laugh and smile.

Your favorite song is Happy and you know it. I cannot tell you how many times every day I sing and Campbell loves it!

Favorite books : Frosty the snowman, The Night Before Christmas, Mommy Hugs, Daddy Hugs, and anything read by Gigi or Mommy

Favorite foods: apples, bananas, milk, blueberries, ham, cheese, crackers, raisins, cereal, and Mommy's breakfast shakes. Your appetite is kind of hit or miss.

Love using the ipad and iphone. You amaze me with how well you can use electronics.

Love playing outside when the weather allows.

You know how much Mommy loves coffee and you know how to work the Keurig. You love to put in the coffee pod, shut the top and push the brew button obviously supervised.

Prepare for the picture dump of sorts from the last few weeks:

Just a little bathroom reading

Lately

Campbell has been feeling under the weather as of lately. Thus far we have been very healthy and our ailments have been limited to ear infections.

Well on Christmas Eve eve (also known as December 23) we learned the hard way that Campbell has a shellfish allergy or at least that is our guess. Austin picked us up takeout from Tokyo grill and Campbell proceeded to eat one of my shrimp. About fours hours later she was awake vomiting and broken out in hives. I absolutely hate seeing my baby sick but realize her reaction could have been much more severe. It hit me after the fact that we had gone down to charleston back in may that Campbell became ill after eating calamari. Now I realize that calamari is not but its one of the foods to avoid if you have a shellfish allergy. I also presume that the calamari was cooked the same place at the shrimp etc.

This past Sunday we had planned to eat dinner with our wonderful neighbors and friends. Well after Campbell woke up from her nap I noticed she felt warm. Well I checked her temperature and it was 101.6 my first thought was oh no not the flu epidemic. She ran a fever the rest of Sunday into Monday so to the pediatrician we went. She was diagnosed with an acute sinus infection not so bad or so I thought. Said sinus infection has caused vomiting more vomiting and an obscene amount of dirty dirty diapers. Campbell has barely been able to keep down any foods or liquids. I am hopeful she is on the mend after covering me in vomit and poop this morning I have definitely earned my badge into mommy hood. Austin and Mama have been so helpful and I am very thankful Austin wasn't traveling this week for work. Hopefully this drainage has seized so that our sweet baby can get some rest.

At least I am getting in a ton of snuggle time with our sweet girl. I love for her to say I want mommy but I want her to be back to her old self.

Christmas 2012

The holidays completely zoomed by as the saying goes the days go by slow but the years go by fast and that certainly seems to be the case. I absolutely cannot believe that Campbell turns two this year. I just watched the video that we put together for her first birthday and cried like a baby. My baby is growing up way too fast.

We had a wonderful Christmas celebrating with our families. My parents, Chris and Chara came over on Christmas morning for breakfast. Campbell must have been exhausted from the Christmas Eve festivities as she did not wake up until 8:00 so everyone was anxiously waiting to see what Santa brought her. We had some excitement on Christmas morning as we had a small fire in our oven while I was cooking breakfast. Fortunately we have wonderful neighbors who finished cooking our breakfast casserole and cinnamon rolls (thanks Jeff & Whitnie). Campbell received way too many presents to name them all so I will just name what seems to be her favorite at this time. Her kitchen which she received from Santa, her princess car from Gigi and Granddaddy, and her Cinderella movie from Grammy and Granddaddy. I put about half of her presents up in the closet for later in the year and figured I would switch them out throughout the year which she gets bored with her other toys.

Get off the road, we have a wild driver!

Christmas is exhausting!

Next we headed over to my parents for lunch where Campbell had so much fun playing with Aunt Sonia and the rest of the family. Whenever I ask Campbell who her favorite is she usually says Gigi and Aunt Sonia. Needless to say we know where we stand.

Finally we wrapped up Christmas by heading over to Austin's parents for dinner and you guessed it more presents.

We are beyond blessed and constantly reminded that God gave us the biggest blessing his son Jesus.
