Asheville Adventures

I’ve been thinking about a little weekend getaway and Asheville was just what I had in mind. Our main purpose was to take Campbell to Sliding Rock  but also much needed family time. We headed out Friday and stayed at an Airbnb. We loved our Airbnb. It was dog friendly and super convenient to downtown and walkable to different restaurants and shopping. We would definitely stay here again.

Friday night we hit up BarTaco. I had eaten at the one in Nashville but Austin and Campbell had not. We sat outside and had gorgeous weather. Marley tagged along as everything we did was dog friendly which was just our speed. We came back to our weekend home and caught lightening bugs. Our city girl doesn’t know the joy of growing up in the country ha.

Saturday morning we were up and headed to Tupelo Honey for breakfast. I adore their breakfast and it didn’t disappoint.

The weather was to be a bit questionable Saturday so we headed on to Sliding Rock. Campbell loved Sliding Rock. She and Austin must’ve gone down a dozen times. I was one and done. Campbell yelled for me to wait for her but I swam to get out as soon as possible.

Next up we headed to Looking Glass Falls. It was gorgeous and definitely a must see but hard to navigate with a pup. We didn’t want her to get hurt.

We were starving by this point and hit up a food truck before heading back to our Airbnb. We were exhausted and took a little snooze before dinner. For dinner we hit up Asheville Brewing Company.

I loved the outdoor space and again how dog friendly it was however I was a bit disappointed in the food. Austin and I shared a cheeseburger pizza and maybe I was just expecting more. They have a rather extensive menu so we will try something else next time. One of the highlights of our trip was Sunshine Sammie’s. Y’all the dessert was unbelievable. Their specialty is ice cream sandwiches. But unlike regular sandwiches the ice cream was served between two cookies. I had the pecan pie sammie and it was out of this world. Do yourself a favor and stop by in you are ever in Asheville. About this time it started to pour so we called it a night.

Sunday we decided to grab breakfast at Biscuit House which was walkable from our place.

We all slept in a bit on Sunday so by the time we are arrived it was after 9:30. The line was wrapped around the building. Their specialty is biscuits duh. It was definitely worth the wait. We all ordered something different and it did not disappoint. We headed back to our place and packed up. Campbell wanted to ride bikes before we made the trip back home. So we headed over to Asheville Outdoor Center. We rented three bikes and had a great time. Marley was able to run alongside Austin and was absolutely exhausted by the time we were done. Austin and I definitely need to get our own bikes. Campbell loves riding hers and ask all the time if we can ride bikes together.

Lastly we stopped in Greenville on the way home to meet the newest Cato. Y’all she is so adorable. She slept like an angel the entire time we were there.

Asheville we loved you and could’ve spent another week exploring. Austin and Campbell are already talking about a Daddy/Daughter camping trip in the fall.

Xoxo,

Fort Campbell

We had been long discussing renovating the 1100+ square feet of attic space for as long as I can remember. Campbell soon caught on and it just took a little bit of persuading for Austin to agree to begin renovations in January of 2018. It took just under three short months for our project to be completed. We utilized Kevin Gobbi with KSG Properties and had a fantastic experience. I also enlisted the help of decorator Erin Carroll of the Golden Egg. I loved seeing our vision come to light. My hope is that we created a space that Campbell and her friends will enjoy for years to come.

Below are our before, in progress and after pictures:

These doors right here are extra special. My Daddy handcrafted these beautiful barn doors and we could not be more in love with them.
