How far along? 27 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss? Haven’t weighed myself since my last appointment, but I have definitely seen numbers I have never seen before. I guess this is what happens when you are pregnant and have basically been the same size most of your life.
Maternity clothes? Still wearing mostly regular shirts, yes to maternity dresses and pants
Stretch marks? Negative, which by the way I got some new stretch mark cream that is non-greasy and smells awesome yay!
Sleep? Pretty good, definitely can’t sleep in like I used to because our sweet girl loves to wake her mama up
Best moment last week? Picking a pediatrician and finding someone wonderful to watch Campbell (more on that later)
Movement? She usually wakes me up around 6:30 and has a party from 7:00 to 10:00 every night. I think she knows she is putting on a show for her Daddy during this time. Austin was very impressed at how hard she was kicking Sunday night; our little girl is definitely strong already. I think we may have a soccer player on our hands!!
Food cravings? None, I am beginning to wonder if these exist. I would however love a tall glass of wine sigh…
Gender? Girl
Labor signs? None
Belly button in/out? Outey boo!
What I miss: Wine and sleeping on my stomach
What I am looking forward to: Our 4d ultrasound on January 22, and our maternity pictures
Milestones: Closing in on the 3rd Trimester
We have really gotten so much accomplished over the past week. I think I was starting to freak out when I realized that it won’t be long before we are holding our sweet girl in our arms.
We have decided on a pediatrician. Austin’s sister, Melissa takes her kids to The Kids Group and we certainly value and trust her opinion. We walked in to meet the doctors and who was in the lobby waiting but our neighbor Whitnie with her daughter Emerson. We had no idea they took her to Dr. Dodds and it was so funny that Emerson was there for her 9 month check up. Whitnie confirmed that she too loves Dr. Dodds and loves taking Emerson there. This made our decision very easy. Two recommendations from two people we trust.
Speaking of Whitnie & Jeff:
We are very lucky to have such wonderful neighbors and could not have been more blessed to live next door to them. Their daughter (Emerson) and Campbell will be almost exactly a year apart. Emerson’s birthday is April 9th, which was also the original date we were supposed to close on our house. They also found out the day before Thanksgiving that they were having a little girl. We are certainly looking forward to watching our girls grow up together. Whitnie also recommended Carrie to us. Carrie currently stays at home with her two kids. She has a 3 year old & 7 month old, and has offered to keep Campbell for us. We feel so blessed to not have to send her to daycare. My Mama stayed home with me until I was 3 then I stayed with Mama Nola who kept me and two other girls, so I was never in daycare. Austin’s mama was also able to stay home with him. While we were certainly not against daycare we do feel like this is the best option for us. Campbell will get more one on one attention from my Mama on Mondays and Fridays. Then on Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday she will be staying with Carrie. Carrie is willing to stick to whatever schedule we have her on, and I think the transition from me being home to back to work will be much easier on me. I know that she will also be interacting with older kids and will likely learn a lot from Carrie’s children and hopefully won’t be getting sick as often. It definitely puts my mind at ease that both Jeff & Whitnie told me separately that they would feel more than comfortable leaving Emerson with Carrie.
We go back to the doctor again on Friday. I have been monitoring my blood pressure, and it is definitely fine even low a lot of the time. I know I let myself get worked up easily and will try and work on that to avoid any further discussion with the doctor regarding my blood pressure.
PS Emma has been warming my heart to pieces. Last night I had my shirt pulled up showing her my belly and she kissed it a couple of times and then sat there with her little paw right on top of where Campbell was kicking. I am happy to see my two girls bonding already.
